02 Uddiyana Bandha (Diaphragm Lock)

There is a physical and energetic barrier formed by the diaphragm between the upper thorax and the lower abdomen.

The movement of the muscle with the rhythm of breathing fluctuates the polarity of energy in the midbody.

This lock creates a vertical integration of emotional qualities and allows a circulation of pranic energy into the central channel called the sushmana.

It is crucial for reaching the highest effects of chanting meditation.

It directly massages your intestines and heart muscle and is associated with youthfulness and the slowing of all degenerative aging processes.

It also stimulates internal cleansing and helps to open the heart chakra which increases kindness, compassion and patience.

Method:

Sit comfortably and inhale deeply then completely expel the breath.

Pull the entire abdominal region, especially above the navel point back towards your spine and upward.

Lift your chest, never pull this lock and collapse the chest downward.

Gently press the lower spine forward.

Hold for as long as you can without strain.

Release the lock by relaxing and gradually inhaling.

Note:

This lock is to be applied only on the exhale.
