04 Bandhas (Body Locks)

After a series of exercises or during certain practices it is desirable to contain the blend of the prana and apana so that it can establish itself, deepen its effect and initiate the opening of the channels it flows into.

The hand positions and eye positions that aid this, seal and increase the flows of energy are called mudras.

The bandhas are the locks applied to whole body areas that arrest the separation of the prana and apana.

Their purpose is for healing and balancing the energy of the chakras.

When applying the bandhas you pull Kundalini (energy) up the spine to your brain.

The locks hold steady, seal and increase the efforts of the yogi and allow an equilibrium to establish itself.

This has enormous impact on the entire system of your body and mind.

It is a basic technique that accumulates the effects of your efforts.
