03 Breath of Fire

Breath of fire is a rapid, rhythmic and continuous breath that is always practiced through the nostrils with a closed mouth unless stated otherwise.

It is powered by your navel and is equal on inhale and exhale.

Method:

Exhale:

Press the navel point toward the spine. This feels automatic when you rapidly contract your diaphragm. The chest stays relaxed and slightly lifted throughout the breathing cycle.

Inhale:

The abdomen relaxes, the diaphragm extends down, and the breath seems to come in as part of relaxation rather than through the effort.

Cautions:

You may find the breath creates an initial dizziness.

Some tingling, traveling sensations and light-headedness is completely normal as your body adjusts to the new breath and to the new stimulation of your nerves.

In some people it is not adjusting to the breath itself, but it is the result of toxins and chemistry released by the breath in a series of exercises.

If you concentrate at your brow point it should pass quickly. Once you have adjusted it normally stays away.
